Key at bat helps the West Boca Snappers defeat the Boca Blazers, 5-4

Mike Amato from Pace Univ.

Mike Amato came off the bench as pinch hitter early and made an adjustment that proved to be key as the game went on.  He was able to lead the West Boca Snappers (12-14) to a 5-4 win over the Boca Raton Blazers (10-8) on Thursday at Miller Park.

With the score tied at four, the count full and two outs already in the 11th Amato sent a hanging curve ball sailing over the green monster.  That big hit would be enough as the Snappergang held on in the bottom of the 11th behind relief pitcher Chris Phillips.

Dave Brehm also had a hot bat for the West Boca Snappers. Brehm went 2-3, drove in one and scored two runs on the day. He homered for the first time this season in the third inning and singled in the first and tenth innings.

Chris Phillips improved to 2-1 on the year by picking up the win for the West Boca Snappers. He struck out none, walked none and surrendered two hits.

Sergio Miyares (0-1) took the loss for the Boca Raton Blazers. He lasted just four innings, walked two, struck out six, and allowed one run.
